1 Tablespoon Red clover

1 Tablespoon Cloves

Wishing Sigil

Posted by Mother Moon on April 26, 2013 at 12:50 AM Comments comments (0)

There are lots of ways to incorporate sigils into your magick but there are also ways that you can incorporate sigils into your daily life.

Some people call these a commanding sigil, others a wishing sigil. Really, they are both.

The point of the sigil is to put a desire into the universe and also into your subconscious.

The first thing you do is come up with a wish.

Let’s say your wish is to be content in life.

1920's Uncrossing Potion

Posted by Mother Moon on April 25, 2013 at 10:05 AM Comments comments (2)

This is uncrossing potion is one that I found in a manuscript written during the 1920s. It's one of my favorites!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup cottonseed oil (technically you can use any carrier oil)

1 teaspoon ground hyssop

1 teaspoon powdered sandalwood

1 teaspoon powdered patchouli leaf (people often used patchouli perfume back in the old days, but powdered works best)

1 teaspoon myrrh resin

1 teaspoon crushed vervain

Necromancy - What it isn't

Posted by Mother Moon on April 21, 2013 at 1:15 PM Comments comments (2)

Necromancy is not a religion. It is simply a practice. One can be of any faith to practice as death touches all faiths and all walks of life.

Necromancy is not black magick. Magick has no color. It is the intent of the caster that dictates whether or not magick is good, bad or in between.

Necromancy is not necrophilia! A necromancer has no sexual ties or desires for the dead.

I can guarantee that most of what you’ve read about necromancy in books is so steeped with ign...

Augurs

Posted by Mother Moon on April 18, 2013 at 10:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Augurs were ancient Roman aristocrats who took on the roll as seers for the Roman government.

Their attire was very strict. They wore white robes with scarlet stripes and a purple border (known as trabea). They carried a lituus which is a staff that is free from knots and bent at the top.

Originally there were just 3 Augurs but by the time Julius Caesar was in office, there were 16.

The advice of the augurs was sought out for decisions on all important matters.

Horses Can Have Amulets Too

Posted by Mother Moon on April 17, 2013 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Horse Brasses, also known as harness medallions or bridle medallions were traditionally used to protect horses from evil witchcraft and the evil eye.

Although just one or two brasses were worn daily, a full set consisted of 18 to 20 pieces and were usually reserved for special occasions.

Old World Animal Cures

Posted by Mother Moon on April 13, 2013 at 5:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Many forms of magick involve animals and/or animal parts in their rituals. It is believed that most animals carry within them a magickal power.

Certain animals were thought to hold the most power and were highly sought out for some of the strangest brews and cures.

Though most traditions no longer practice rituals that involve harming animals, it is still interesting to learn some of the old methods which were once very commonly practiced.

Making a charm/mojo/gris gris bag

Posted by Mother Moon on April 12, 2013 at 9:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Traditionally, charm pouches are created from either red or black flannel, leather or from gunny sack material.

Personally, I don’t care for the gunny sack material as it tends to leak herbs unless it is made really well.

It doesn’t really matter what kind of material you use, but I do like leather because its durable and should you choose to infuse your charm bag with magickal energy, leather will hold that energy much longer than any other typ...

For The Love of Dirt

Posted by Mother Moon on April 11, 2013 at 10:55 AM Comments comments (0)

One of the fabulous things about dirt is that it works on its own without charging, blessings or cleansing!

The simple fact that it came from the earth gives it its energy.

Dirt absorbs all of its energy from the earth itself as well as its surroundings.

Here you will find a list of the various types of graveyard dirt.

But did you know that other dirt can have beneficial properties too?

Did you know?

In a pinch, a Barbie/Ken doll, as long as it is new, will work for a poppet just as well as anything you make yourself! It doesn’t have to be the most expensive doll on the shelf - one from a dollar store works just as well. With just a few alterations, you will be able to create the perfect poppet.

A hairy situation...

Posted by Mother Moon on February 13, 2013 at 8:40 AM Comments comments (3)

My night began as any other normal weeknight.

Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: 'Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet. So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom. It was one of those 'cold wax' kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you

peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever el...

The Most Effective Love Magick

Posted by Mother Moon on November 6, 2012 at 10:30 AM Comments comments (2)

The most effective magick comes from making your choices wisely.

The first and most important thing you should do before considering any kind of spell work is to sit down and take a good hard look at your situation. Make a list of what happened to put you in the position that you’re in. Make a list of the things you want changed and the results/outcomes you want to see.

From that list, choose ...

On Being The Other Woman...

I hate to be the one to just put it out there like this…but…

It sucks being the other woman. It sucks for you and it sucks for me as a spell caster.

I hear subtle variations of the same story day in and day out…

Their marriage/relationship is bad.

He wants out.

His wife is mean to him.

His wife controls him.

He’s only been in the relationship this long because of the kids.

They’re getting div...

Prideful Pagan

Posted by Mother Moon on April 5, 2012 at 9:20 AM Comments comments (0)

Being an internet dealer for so many years, one sees a lot of things and people come and go. I’ve seen a lot of change, both good and bad.

One of the worst changes, at least to me, is the total lack of pride online pagans put into their work. Now, I’m not saying all pagans, but rather…most.

I get emails all of the time from people asking for custom amulets. A lot of times, that request comes with a link to an ebay listing. It never cease...

Binding Spirits & Entities to Your Person...

Posted by Mother Moon on August 27, 2011 at 11:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Soul Binding - what is it?? Its when a practitioner uses magickal bindings to attach an entity or spirit to you. It doesnt matter whether the practitioner titles the process - “self” binding, a soul binding, a direct binding, an astral binding or merely a physical binding - it means the same thing.

In fact, you could chose a part of your physical body to have the entity bound to; like your finger for exa...

Black Magick, Demons, and other Maledictions for the greater good?

Posted by Mother Moon on August 25, 2011 at 12:35 AM Comments comments (4)

The Wiccan motto of “Harm None” sounds great, doesn’t it? It would be a great and moral motto to live by, IF, everyone followed it. But sadly, that is just not the case.

There are situations where abiding by this motto is more detrimental than it is moral.

A better motto for magick, in my opinion, would be, “All is fair in love and war.” Its fitting and definitely applies more to everyday life.

If you hit ...
